Terry Deitz, Survivor Finalist, U.S. Navy Fighter Pilot and College Athlete will relate to you what it takes to get, "In the Zone"!

Terry was born in New Jersey in 1959. His father a Korean War Veteran, High School teacher and coach, along with his mother, laid the stable foundation upon which his high performance life would take shape. He graduated St. John Vianney High School in 1978, earning 11 Varsity letters. He captained three varsity sports, earning All Conference honors in all three, and was a two time All State baseball player.

Terry's academic, leadership and athletic abilities earned him a nomination to the United States Naval Academy, where he graduated in 1982, with a Bachelor of Science Degree. During his stay at USNA, Terry earned four Varsity letters in Baseball and two berths in the NCAA playoffs, including a,"Sweet Sixteen", appearance in 1982.

Prior to entering Navy Flight School, Terry sailed on the USS Enterprise,(CVN-65), for 18 months, and earned his,"Officer of the Deck Qualification", enroute to his Surface Warfare Designation.

Terry earned his wings of gold in 1986 and was ordered to Fighter Squadron 124, Naval Air Station, Miramar, San Diego, CA., for training in the F-14 Tomcat. Following intense training, he received orders to Fighter Squadron 51, The Screaming Eagles. Terry deployed for over 18 months at sea on the USS Carl Vinson, protecting our nations interests throughout the Pacific and Indian Oceans. Terry amassed over 340 traps, or arrested landings, 112 of them coming at night. During Terry's stay with VF-51, the squadron won the" Battle E" , along with several other excellence awards and was known throughout the fleet for it's high spirit and morale.

Prior to leaving active duty, Terry returned to VF-124, where he was an F-14 Tomcat instructor pilot. In the spring of 1992, Terry received an Honorable Discharge from active duty and was immediately hired by American Airlines, where he remains an international pilot, flying the Boeing 757/767. Terry continued flying in the Naval Reserves with Fleet Logistics Support Squadron 52. He captained the DC-9"Sky Train" throughout the world until his retirement as a Commander in the spring of 2001.

In mid 2005, Terry was chosen out of 80,000 applicants to be part of the 16 member cast for the 12th season of the CBS TV Reality Show, "Survivor". His season, named," Survivor, Panama,"Exile Island", aired in the spring of 2006. After setting an all time record for the number of consecutive immunity challenges won, the final prize of 1 million dollars somehow eluded him in the end. He finished 3rd, and counts it as a major life experience.

Since the show, Terry has used his Survivor fame and lifelong experiences as a platform from which to assist charities and other fund raising groups. Among other things, Terry has gone on to host, produce and appear on shows for the History Channel and local TV shows. For the past two years, Terry has been a Keynote speaker for a major business consulting firm and worked for a TV show development group in New York City.

Terry has been blessed with many opportunities and wonderful things in his life, including his loving wife, family, and friends. In some cases, were it not possible to immerse himself,"In the Zone", he might not be here today! He believes that constantly striving to reach those levels in all facets of life will make us more successful and better people.
