TN, USChaplain Yolanda Walker is a native of Nashville, Tennessee. She accepted her call and was licensed in ministry on Decemer 15, 1996. She attended Tennessee State University where she graduated with a Bachelor's Degree. In 1998, she was accepted into Morehouse School of Religion at the Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC) of Atlanta, Georgia where she graduated with a Master of Divinity Degree in Psychology of Religion and Pastoral Care. In addition to her degrees, she has completed addtional graduate course work at Trevecca Nazarene College in Marriage and Family Therapy. She also, has an Honorary Doctorate Degree and is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Theology. While in seminary she completed a Unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) at the Emory and Crawford Long Hospitals and later became an On Call Chaplain for both Hospitals. In addition to Hospital Chaplaincy, she served as Public Relations Director for Student Government and Chaplain for the Women Seminarians at the ITC. She has had the priveledge of serving in ministry for Baptist, Methodist, and Church of God in Christ Denominations. Upon, completing her Master of Divinity Degree, she returned back to Nashville, Tennessee and united with the Greater Grace Temple Community Church, where Rev. Breonus Mitchell serves as Senior Pastor. Pastor Mitchell ordained her in ministry and she served as Elder. Chaplain Walker has served as Pastoral Counselor with the Pastoral Counseling Centers of Tennessee where she has counseled with Non Profit Organizations such as YWCA Newstart, Project Return, McKendrie Village , and Reconciliation. She has counseled youth, women and men in the area of recovery, abuse, anger management, and substance abuse. Currently, she serves as Chaplain and Volunteer Coordinator for the Tennessee Prison For Women. She was the first African American woman to be hired by the Tennessee Department of Corrections and serve in this position. In addition to her many responsibilities she has served as a facilitator for Anger Managment, Substance Abuse, Boundaries, and Parenting. She is the Co-Founder and Executive Director for Tri-Fold Outreach which is a ministry that provides Christian Counseling, Curriculum Resources, and Community Outreach Services to inmates, ex-offenders, and the community. Chaplain Walker is a Registered Addiction Specialist Intern with the Breining Institute and is a member of the following organizations: Tennessee Correctional Association, American Association of Christian Counselors and American Probation & Parole Association. Chaplain Walker has been blessed to be interviewed and featured in the following broadcast or publications: CBS News, ABC News, The Christian Post, "Christian Trinity Network, (CTN)" "The Bridges Show," and Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) Second Chance for Prisoners. Chaplain Walker is a gifted speaker, life coach, teacher, counselor, and intercessor. Her passion is to help bring healing and restoration to individual lives that have been wounded through addictions, abuse, relationships, and incarceration. God has given her a great assignment to help those who have been forgotten and many cases left for dead. With God's help she will continue to pursue avenues to reach the lost and disenfranchised through Christ by providing Christian Counseling, Curriculum Resources, and Community Outreach Services. Chaplain Walker is the author of 5 books which include 3 children's books. And currently is a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where Bishop Joseph Walker, serves as Senior Pastor. She resides in Nashville, Tennessee and is the proud mother of one daughter.
