Valda Ford has worked in over 60 countries to create productive and harmonious workplaces, facilitate better health outcomes and enhance leadership skills. Valda is the go-to keynote speaker for organizations like the American Heart Association and Healthy Start. Her personal experience with the death of a child to heart disease and less than stellar care and her desire to keep other mothers from experiencing the same loss moves her to develop novel and actionable programs to improve communication and health.

She helps agencies accomplish their goals even when there are difficulties like financial constraints, language and literacy barriers and general apathy.
When called upon to help communities and police officers create cohesive partnerships Valda created a comprehensive program for law enforcement which included training for the command staff, the trainers and the officers. Her focus on cultural competency training has been used by multiple agencies from police to fire to 911 call centers. She has also trained police cadets.
Valda is a successful entrepreneur having opened four enterprises in the US and the Caribbean. Using her skills as a Registered Nurse and Public Health expert she built a thriving high tech home health and supplemental staffing agency in North Carolina employing 200 nurses and techs, developed the first cardiac, stroke and physical rehabilitation center in the Caribbean, created the Center for Human Diversity in Omaha, Nebraska and is a much sought after keynote speaker and workshop facilitator.
Valda has written book chapters for two medical textbooks, and is finishing her own book on her global experiences called Don't Touch the Monk and Other Stories of Global Faux Pas. Valda delivers monthly workshops on improving customer service and care for diverse clients, public speaking, and training of trainers.
Ford has a Master of Public Health in Health Policy Analysis and Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a Master of Nursing Administration from Creighton University, and a Bachelor of Science degree from Winston-Salem State University. Her career includes nearly a decade of service in Saudi Arabia and the United States Virgin Islands, and presentations on leadership, public health, and cultural competency in at least 25 US states, as well as in China, Columbia, the United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands, England, Wales, Poland, Ghana, Saudi Arabia, the US Virgin Islands, Denmark, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Australia.
