If I told you I beat Howard Stern in the morning drive radio ratings in Washington DC, would that get your attention? 

My first career was as a major-market radio personality, and while in DC, Howard Stern and I were head-to-head on the radio. He was a shock-jock on a rock station and I was the friendly way DC's country music lovers started their day. (Psst - when the first President Bush talked with the media about listening to WMZQ, he was talking about listening to my morning show.)

Successful radio personalities know a secret that many on-stage presenters don't know - language usage and energy are keys to connecting with people deeply and meaningfully.
