I had the opportunity to host Amy as our keynote speaker during my time as VP of Programs for Society for Information Management's Indianapolis Chapter, and again as Co-Lead of Events for Ellevate Network's Indianapolis Chapter. I first met Amy through Integrating Women Leaders Foundation when she was a speaker at our conference last year and she received high marks for her workshop there. Since then, I have switched roles and now work on the events team at TechPoint. Several of my teammates and I attended the online Diversity in Tech Symposium where Amy was a speaker yesterday, and I was extremely impressed by her work once again. What impressed me the most was how directly and succinctly she articulated complex issues in a way that non D&I experts could understand. I also admired the way she phrased statements about social justice as facts (because they are) and didn't tiptoe around the topic to make people feel better. That takes confidence and skill, and I am striving do master that in my own life.

Amy spoke to our Columbus CPCU chapter and delivered a strong message about the importance of embracing change in our careers. She illustrated her points by using examples from her own background, Amy's stories and experiences were something the audience could relate to especially well. I came away seeing how I can use the chaos and uncertainty of change for my benefit by getting others excited about the opportunity the change entails, as part of being a change hero, even if there are aspects of the change that might be uncomfortable or painful. I also realized that change is more about my own reaction than it is about changing others. A quote from the poet and mystic Rumi on this topic was so appropriate and insightful that I've shared with others already. I highly encourage anyone who would like to learn more about this topic or others on which Amy is knowledgeable and an expert to reach out to her for a speaking engagement. You and your colleagues will come away better prepared, better informed, and deliver better results for having done so.

During my professional career, I cannot even give a number to the luncheons, trade-shows, conferences, networking events I've attended.
