Education/Career: Healthcare

Stuart loves the game of chess. The strategy, complexity, challenge, and skill required to accomplish the purpose of the game fascinates him.

Stuart was first introduced to the business side of healthcare as a Customer Service Representative for the Financial Department at Intermountain Healthcare (IHC) in Salt Lake City. Since that time he has held numerous positions at IHC. It was there that he began to become increasingly interested in the challenge and complexity the healthcare industry. In fact he saw it as the ultimate chess match with its strategic ramifications and cross functional disciplines.

Since that time he has taken on the challenge and has become an expert in this field. He graduated with High Honors with a Bachelors degree in Healthcare Administration and holds the credentials of a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) under the American Academy of Professional Coders.

Additionally, he graduated with Honors with a Master of Business Administration Degree and holds a Six Sigma Certification.

In his seven years of experience in the healthcare industry Stuart has held a number of positions across many disciplines including, but not limited to that of a: Quality Supervisor, Certified Coding Analyst, Certified Coding Consultant, Billing/Reimbursement Auditor, Revenue Integrity Auditor, Business Intelligence Analayst, Financial Consultant, Clinical Process Consultant, and finally Finance Director.

Experience: Non-Profit

From a young age, Stuart has always believed that non-profits are the glue that holds society together. He has always been intrigued by the idea that there are organizations out there who are sacrificing so much to be a positive force for good in the world.

He began to proactively get involved with non-profits at age 18 when he volunteered at the Disability Resource Center in Salt Lake City. Since that time, he has volunteered in many organizations both in and out of the country. His most memorable being the two years he spent in Russia teaching English and serving in orphanages as a missionary. While earning his Masters degree, Stuart served on several boards and even founded Breaking Through, a non-profit that specialized in helping teens overcome the pressures of high school.
