Linda Linda J Cahan
With over 25 years of speaking experience, Linda has been lucky enough to speak around the world for major corporations (American Express, Singer, United Rentals, Pantaloon, National Retail Federations - to name just a few) on topics related to all aspects of retail presentation, customer service and promotions.
Linda gives seminars on a wide variety of retail topics nationally and internationally, was a member of the National Speakers Association and writes for several B-to-B retail magazines. She has authored: "100 Displays Under $100", "Feng Shui for Retailers", "A Practical Guide to Visual Merchandising" as well as eight custom corporate visual standards manuals for major corporations in the USA and South America: American Express TRS, Singer, Saks Fifth Avenue, United Rentals, Lancome Cosmetics, RORI (Caracas, Venezuela), The Bowling Proprietors Association of America, Armi Studio and Totto (Colombia.)
Linda's philosophy in giving seminars is to give as much information as possible, make it clear and easy to implement. Attendees walk out of her seminars inspired to make changes to their stores, offices and homes. The seminars are very slide intensive with usually at least 150 - 350 photo slides to keep people entertained, educated and help them remember the ideas offered during the session. Each of her sessions are customized for the group, client or organzation.
As an expert in visual merchandising and store design, Linda consults with retailers of all types/sizes and categories on increasing sales through improved visual strategies including help with overall presentation, fixturing, store layout and design, renovations, color and materials, display, lighting and signage. She also does hands-on VM training sessions for retailers based on their standards, image and brand.
Working with the concepts of Feng Shui for 17 years, Linda brings this knowledge into her work to help retailers achieve balance and success with their ventures.
Currently, Linda's expertise was also shared part-time for eight years with students at The Art Institute of Portland, OR. Formerly, she taught at Parsons School of Design in NYC for 12 years.
William Lorenzen, Assistant Visual Director at Saks Fifth Avenue during the late 90's wrote the following in the front of the SFA Corporate Visual Merchandising Manual:
"Linda Cahan of Cahan & Company was hired to edit the entire work and add her objective viewpoint and ideas as a visual merchandiser but also as someone from the outside who had never worked for Saks Fifth Avenue. No other person who has never worked for SFA knows as much about visual merchandising as she and I doubt anyone ever will."
